Artist, duh. Even moderately intelligent people get shunned for being too clever, and if I were a genius I wouldn't be able to stand anyone else's company because they'd all be far too stupid.

Very true. Given the educashun standards of this country in particular, being too clever is simply ASKING to spend your days in a toxic mood-mix of caution, irritation, loathing, and revulsion. The academic havens are a refuge for the intelligent, but everyone sooner or later has to go out in the street, and use the shops.
